A Beautiful Disaster

I’m diving deep
into stillness,
in and out of sensory awareness,
in and out of visions.
Your smile haunts me —
the way it curves
and reveals
so much that stays unsaid;
the way your cheeks stretch,
and dimples dip,
all the way into happiness...
And I know there are things
weighing you down,
but for a moment,
I can feel the energy shift —
and it jolts me from my calm place
into vibrating with you.
The heart beats faster
as blood rushes to my head;
I’m dizzy watching you
watching me.
Unwittingly mesmerized
by the ocean blue in your eyes,
I let go of inhibitions
and let you hold me in this joy,
untamed.
You look at me
like you’ve never seen anything
quite so special,
and lose track of words
and time,
until we say goodnight,
and then hang around
for another round
of irrelevant conversation.
Cherishing the thread
that we know you’ll break tomorrow,
we take in all we can hold.
Just another moment of silence,
and I’ll wait for you
in my beautiful stillness,
in and out of desire to rise
out of this insatiable mouth
of quiet destruction.
