Writings
Very old, brand new, and everything in between: free-writing, poetry, notes, open letters and journal entries… Infused by love and delivered with an open heart.
As I read through some of these writings after all these years, I notice how timeless certain emotional experiences are, even in an entirely different context. Something may have been written about a particular time yet rings true many years later. Conversely, I also find it fascinating how attitudes toward, and responses to, life’s circumstances can change dramatically through expanded awareness and wisdom gained through life’s experiences.
While my essays and open letters are usually inspired by a specific person or event, poems are like dreams. They are based on real events but they pick and choose and recombine the elements of reality in a way that simultaneously reflects said reality as well as the internal longings from times past intertwined with visions of how certain experiences might feel as they begin to unfold. Unless intentionally written as a true, personal reflection on a particular situation, a poem is a composite of life’s experiences inspired by a moment in time, weaving many individual moments together in a magical, dreamlike way.
A friend of mine told me: “You practice an art that requires immersing yourself in life and memories and emotions. Your creative pursuit is putting it into words and eliciting a feeling. Women are emotion, but you climb on top of it and ride it like a Pegasus.” If that is true, I hope I can take you with me.
While it may be a slow process to populate this website with all the writings I want to send out into the universe, I honor each moment spent remembering how colorful and vibrant my life has been, and continues to be. While I can easily envision myself as an old wise lady one day sharing stories with younger generations, no one knows what the next moment may bring. So I choose to live in the now as fully as I can, grateful for the past and open to all the wonders I am yet to experience.
